Sasha

Sasha was by my side through many ups and downs. When I think of most memories, she is somehow always there in the story.
We first met when she belonged to another girl. Her name was Adalin then. Before that, she survived alone as a kitten on a construction site. Skinny and scrappy, she was too difficult to catch for the workers. Once she was rescued, she lived in a home with another cat while waiting to be adopted. I met her. I loved her. I was devastated I couldn’t take her home. I couldn’t stop thinking about her. A short while later, she became available again because her owner was moving to LA.
February 2013, I found out and immediately left a party to go pick up my surprise kitten. That was the day she became Sasha. Over 13 years, she went missing twice. Both times we were reunited.
We moved a dozen times. I went to university. I got a dog. I had a child. She went from being outdoors to indoors. She gave me birds, mice, comfort, presence, and sneezes. I tripped over her constantly. I was always looking for her, and she was always looking for me whether I wanted her to or not. She let me know when she disliked people.
I couldn’t sit or lie down without her suddenly appearing beside me or climbing on top of me. She was there during the worst times of my life and the best ones. She was aloof with most friends and family, but if someone was in pain, she knew. And she would not leave their side.
Sasha was my familiar. She never left my side.
Until the day she did.
I love you, Sasha.

Blue

“Thank you guys so much for making this process a gentle one. We are so grateful we had Dr. Vanessa and her technician (Kristin) come to our house yesterday.
We miss Blue so much and it will be a process getting used to the absence 🙁
Here is one of our favourite photos of him.”

Humphrey

Humphrey came from a land far away, finding peace, love, comfort and care with a family who has opened their hearts many times to special dogs like him. He is deeply missed by his family, including his sister, Ocean.

Sparky

Sparky loved terrorizing flocks of birds. Though most were bigger than he was, but that never stopped sparkman. His happy place was with his human getting pet to sleep. He smelled spots longer than any dog I’ve ever met. So much so that I would have to count 30 seconds on most trees otherwise it would take forever to walk anywhere. He was a sweet boy with love for all people. Unless you wanted to pick him up, that privilege was only given to one person. He lived a good life and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed and will always be remembered. He lived, he loved and I hope he has all spots to smell forever now.

MiniMoo (Alice)

MiniMoo whose legal name was Alice, was a feisty survivor of many moves. She was with us for 13 years and will be joining her furry sibling Pugsley and MooMoo in pet heaven.

Jackson

Jackson, you came to me from the SPCA 12 years ago, already five years old. I never understood why anyone would give you up. We bonded quickly and spent years exploring every nook and cranny of our neighbourhood, with you leaving your story on every bush and tree.

You fiercely protected the backyard from birds, squirrels, rats, and even no-see-ums. As I gardened, you helped too—digging holes in your own special way. You were dealt one health issue after another, yet you faced them all with superhero strength.

As time wore on, your body weakened. Our walks grew shorter. You became frailer, but you still rallied to go on—until you couldn’t. You left me as I held you, with the gentle help of Resting Paws.

I miss you.

Reggie

“Reggie was the best dog you could ask for, we got him in our early twenties and he taught us so many things. When we had kids he was our constant companion always keeping an eye on his girls. We had a scare in 2021 and didn’t think he was going to be able to stay with us, he ended up gifting us 4 more years of love.

We love you Reggie and we were so lucky you chose us as your family”
