Diesel

A loyal heart and gentle soul, forever remembered and deeply missed.

Kit

15 years ago, on July 16, 2010, I met Kit “Pizza” Brown. 10 days later, my then roommate Kristen convinced me she needed to be part of our family.

Kit’s been everywhere and done everything with us. She’s sailed around the island, hiked many trails, found many sticks, and rolled many balls. She’s been our soul dog and so much more than just a pet — she’s an integral part of our family.

Unfortunately, Kit passed away this Friday. She was comfortable, with her family, and not in pain. She was so loved, and loved us back ten times as much.

It’s rare to find something or someone like Kit. Her high emotional intelligence, sassy attitude, and love for adventure made her the best companion anyone could ever have. If you know Kit, you know she’s notorious for mischief, rolling her “treat ball” and legendary tales of adventure from her youth.

She will be missed by her dad, mom, sister Jupiter, baby Lily, and all those whose lives (and hearts) she touched.

Goodnight Kit 🦊 We’ll see you on the other side 🌙

Aiger

Thank you so much for taking Aiger to his final resting. We had him less than a year, he rescued me from the grief of losing my previous cat of 13 years. He was a sweet soul with a loving heart and the whole neighborhood came to love him and his visits. He was only 2, but his soul will live in my son’s and my heart forever.

Dexter

Forever loved, Dexter’s gentle spirit will live on in every pawprint left on our hearts.

Teifi

Teifi was our special, calm, and loving little girl who was adored by the family and doted on by our 5 grandchildren. She will be missed.

Ella

Ella — a kind and gentle spirit who filled our days with love.

Kitty

In Loving Memory of Kitty
2009 – 2024

How do you fit 15 years of love, sass, and companionship into words without crying?
The truth is—you can’t. Because Kitty wasn’t just a cat. She was my shadow, my tiny supervisor, my fierce little soulmate wrapped in fur.

She was there for every chapter—watching me grow, comforting me through heartache, and judging absolutely everything I did. From her perch at the top of the stairs, she sized up every guest who dared enter, deciding with one squint whether they were worthy of her presence.

In my sewing room, Kitty took her job very seriously. She’d sit beside my machine with a look that said, “Is that really your best work?”—ever the critic, but always near. The ironing wool mat? Far superior to any fancy cat bed. And wherever I went, she followed. Always close, always watching.

She wasn’t a cuddly cat—and that was part of her charm. But sometimes, I just couldn’t help myself. I’d scoop her up and cuddle the absolute crap out of her. She’d tolerate it… to a point. Then came the tail flick. A swift, silent warning: “Put me down or face your doom.” I usually listened. Usually.

But when she wanted cuddles—when she chose to sit close, to lean in and be with you—it was always on her terms, never yours. And in those moments, it felt like being chosen by royalty.

Her 6 a.m. siren-song wake-up calls demanding breakfast, her bravery in staring down a 100lb dog who quickly learned she was in charge, and our long, one-sided “conversations” in Kitty-speak—I miss all of it. Even if I butchered the language, she always understood me.

Kitty passed away in my arms, peacefully, in the comfort of our home. I’m so grateful I got to brush her one last time, feel her warmth, and whisper how deeply she was loved.

Thank you to Resting Paws for your compassion and grace. There was no rushing—only respect, gentleness, and kindness. You are angels doing the work that hearts need most.

Kitty, thank you for 15 unforgettable years of love, judgment, laughter, and loyalty.
You were a force. You were home.
And I still expect to see you—at the stairs, on the mat, giving me that look.

Sleep well, sweet girl. You’ll always be with me.

Finnegan

With the heaviest hearts, our family had to say goodbye to our baby boy, adventure partner, and best friend. We were incredibly lucky to have him in our lives. He blessed us with a lifetime of memories. If you were fortunate enough to meet his hummingbird tail, you would know how special he was. He loved everyone equally. His personality was truly unique—sometimes more human than dog.

It’s hard to put into a few words what the last 14+ years were like. He lived a full, adventurous life. He was always an explorer—sometimes called a Houdini for the ways he’d manage to escape. Nose to the ground, he was always sniffing out the next discovery.

He toured across Canada multiple times, hiked through landscapes from Ontario forests to the grasslands and badlands of Saskatchewan, all through the Rockies, and across Vancouver Island. He was the ring bearer at our wedding. We were so lucky he was here to meet his baby brother, born this past June.

He was a connoisseur of anything cheese and loved the last bite of anyone’s croissant. He was our light after a hard day, always ready for a snuggle. His love was unconditional, and he will be deeply missed.

Delilah

In Loving Memory of Delilah

2004 – 2025

It is with full hearts and tearful eyes that we say goodbye to our beloved Delilah, who passed away peacefully after 21 incredible years of love, loyalty, and companionship.

Delilah wasn’t just a cat—she was family, a quiet constant through seasons of life, and the most precious soul one could ever hope to know. From her early kitten days to her final gentle years, she radiated warmth, affection, and a spark of life that never dimmed.

She was full of love—always. Whether it was the soft nuzzle of her head, the rhythmic comfort of her purring, or the way she instinctively knew when someone needed her presence, Delilah had a way of making the world feel calmer and more whole.

She wasn’t just our sweet companion—she was also her best friend’s shadow. Delilah was fiercely bonded to my father, rarely straying far from his side. Their quiet bond was something sacred: a daily rhythm of comfort, understanding, and pure friendship. In the best of times and the hardest of days, Delilah was there—offering comfort without needing to be asked.

She brought joy that stretched across decades, and her presence was a gift that touched everyone who knew her. Though our home feels quieter now, her spirit lives on in every memory, every photo, and every warm thought of her curled in the sun or snuggled beside someone she loved.

Thank you, Delilah, for 21 years of unconditional love. You were a blessing beyond measure.

We will miss you forever, sweet girl.

Rest well

Koda

She was an amazing family member to us. From her floppy ear to her unwavering devotion to her pack which was us humans. Koda had a personality full of love. We were so privileged to be her humans.

We cannot thank your team enough for the care you showed Koda and also to us as a family in freeing her to go play with the water hose and run again after a ball.

You are a remarkable team of caring individuals that in the hard hours of someone’s life provide comfort and peace to our fur family members. We are forever grateful for your service to Koda as she is at peace now.

Caesar

We have been so lucky to have Caesar in our family. This gentle soul came into my life 20 years ago and has been a constant and loving companion. He has been there for all my major life events. He’s slept in my son’s crib, watching over him as he has grown into a man. We are so grateful for him and the love and cuddles he brought into our home. We miss him so much and hope that he is laying in a warm sunbeam or in front of a warm fireplace.

Maggi

Maggi came into my life in 2008 when a homeless person used this adorable puppy to ask for money. I bought her that night, and she became my best friend and travel companion. From that night on, she rode with me on my motorbike in Colombia, perched on the gas tank wherever I went. We then moved to Panama together for five years, where she upgraded to riding a scooter—her favorite.

Later, we moved back to cold Calgary, where she surprisingly adapted very well to the weather and grew a thick coat. But the ocean called us once again, and Maggi moved to Victoria for the last few years of her adventurous life. There, she was lovingly cared for by my wife, Robyn, who spoiled her like no other. She somehow managed to tolerate our two pugs, Yoda and Lucy, although Yoda has since passed.

Rest in peace, my adventure buddy and best friend.

Panda

Cherished companion, friend and family member. Your memory will last forever

Pal

Beyond loved. Truly cherished. A significant part of the family. You will be missed terribly.

Chatham

Chatham was a very special dog who lived a very enriched life. He loved to go for hikes and swim, despite Jack Russell’s commonly not enjoying swimming. He loved his ball more than anything and in his prime could outrun any dog or child bold enough to challenge him in a race. He loved to snuggle and always managed to take up the most space in any bed, even a king size.

Chatham was a terrier by nature and if he ever caught the scent of a rodent in the yard he would get himself into various precarious situations trying to catch them, getting himself stuck on numerous occasions. He hated shovels and would try to take down his mortal enemy and protect his family from that evil shovel!

Chatham was one of the most expressive dogs you’d ever meet. His emotions were always evident and visible and although he never barked, he would vocalize his opinions strongly with a quick yip or whine.

He was well loved by everyone who met him and would leave gifts of white fur knitted into the clothing of anyone who met him.

Words cannot properly encapsulate how special this little boy was, but it is still worth the effort to try. He will missed deeply by many and his memory will live on through countless photos, videos and wonderful memories.

Pippy

So grateful this little doggy and I found each other. At home, he followed me everywhere and had an honour seat in the front of the car when we went out. When I was without him, he made coming home wonderful. Bouncing up and down to see if I had any cookies, vigorously wagging his tail, and a little bark, with the inevitable question in his eyes. How could you leave me?

Pippy, I’m so grateful for the gifts of joy and happiness you brought to my life. I’m so sorry you had to leave. Please know that you will always be loved and remembered. I’ll always have those cookies.

Patra

Missed terribly. Loved whole heartedly. Forever cherished

Willow

Willow came into my life when I met her while she was a kitten, living in a barn in the country. I had recently said goodbye to my dear dog and didn’t think I was ready for another companion. But Willow had other ideas and I ended up taking her home with me that day .I bought a harness and a leash for her and together we explored her new neighborhood and met new friends. She was a beautiful, lively ,feisty little being who enriched my life so much. She loved to sit on my lap and purr and play with her many toys. She will always live in my heart. Heart felt thanks to Dr. Vanessa and Zoe and team for your compassionate care that enabled Willow to be at home for her last days and moments. Joan

Chibi

Chibi was quite simply the love of my life, my soul dog. She had my heart from the first moment I met her. She had an amazing way of making everything better by just existing.
We went on so many adventures together and she absolutely adored chasing fish in the tide pools at the beach, so much so she got her own fish tank for Christmas one year so she could sit and watch the fish swimming around.
In the darkest of times she knew how to make things better with a lick to the face or a snuggle in bed.
I’m eternally grateful that I got to be her mummy for 14 and 1/2 years and will miss her forever ❤️🐾

Apollo

A wonderful companion and family member. Apollo will be missed tremendously.
