In Loving Memory

Thank you for making this difficult time so comfortable in our own home, in Max’s favourite place to get his endless need for snuggles. The house has a strange quiet to it without him but remembering all the good times and how much joy he added to our family gives me comfort. I only wish we could have had many more.

Maxwell was the most affectionate and loving dog to his family. He could never be close enough and often would be on top of you lol. He loved trips to the beach where he would chase the waves, and he loved food!!

I would like to thank Dr Vanessa and Kristin for helping us through this process. It was the hardest decision our family has ever had to make, but being able to say goodbye in our own home comfortably was very special.

Our first and only cat, you will be treasured forever like the gem that you are. The most considerate and graceful cat, you showed us your royalty and class, keeping your dignified composure until your final moment. You tolerated our move from Burnaby to Victoria and always trusted us as your adoring guardians.
We thought you would enjoy an early retirement here in beautiful Victoria, however you left us far too soon. You shone brightly in your 8 short years. The most prim and angelic looking cat, we will never forget how arresting your little face was. You will always be a part of our family and live in our hearts forever. Our home will never be the same without you, thank you for letting us be part of your life.

Koa was a once in a life time dog. She was an old soul even as a puppy, and could look straight into your spirit with her big brown eyes. She was happiest when covered in sand, rolling around on the beach, and on the couch eating popcorn with her humans. We feel the loss of her presence immensely- she will be deeply missed.

We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Vanessa and her team, who made it possible for us to let her go in the peace of our home. They drove very far out of their way, on Christmas day no less, to help us.

Jasmine (‘Jassy Bear’) and Lexie (‘Lou-Lou’) were my soul dogs. They were my companions, protectors, caregivers, and two beautiful little souls who found their way to me at a time when I needed them the most.

Jasmine arrived first. She was found running down one of the big freeways in Los Angeles. A kind soul found her and took her to the pound but no one came to claim her so just before she was to be euthanized, she was rescued and sent to Canada for adoption and a new life in February 2011. At the time, she was estimated to be just about six months old. From those early beginnings, she brought with her a gentle, nurturing spirit. She became our little caregiver—attentive, loving, and deeply connected to her family and her fur sister. At first, Jasmine wasn’t sure about sharing her forever home with another dog, but in time, the two little girls formed a deep and loving bond. Together, they balanced each other perfectly—caregiver and protector, heart and shield, one motivating the other. They were like two little peas in a pod. They were inseparable. Their connection was unmistakable, and their love for their family was unwavering. On December 20, 2025, Jasmine crossed the rainbow bridge to be reunited with her fur sister, leaving behind a huge space that can never truly be filled.

Lexie found her way to us shortly after Jasmine’s arrival. She too was a rescued fur baby from Los Angeles, and sent to Canada for adoption and a new life in May 2011. She was estimated to be about four years old at the time. Her young life in Los Angeles was nothing any dog should ever experience. When she was found, she was almost completely emaciated, infested with fleas and ticks, and displayed signs of neglect and abuse. But she was a fighter and a little survivor. It’s often said that you don’t choose the dog—the dog chooses you—and during the adoption ‘meet and greet’, Lexie made her choice clear from the very first moment I saw her. She ran to me and planted a big, wet, sweet kiss on my cheek. She knew where she belonged. From that moment forward, Lexie took on the role of my protector and close companion, my soul dog, bravely watching over me and family with loyalty and quiet strength. She was everything I could ever ask for in a dog.
Losing both little girls so close together is a heartbreak beyond words. Even now, it feels impossible to fully comprehend that they are gone. Words alone cannot begin to sum up how much they were loved with a depth that only those who have known such dog companions can truly understand.

Jasmine and Lexie were the best dogs anyone could have ever wished for. Both little girls gave the gift of unconditional love each and every day, and in return were cherished beyond measure. I am forever grateful that they chose me to be their forever mom, and I will carry their love with me always.

Run free, my sweet girls. Together again, across the rainbow bridge, until we meet again. 🐾🌈

We lost our precious Skye, a mini golden doodle, last month at the age of 15. She was a happy girl who loved everyone. She was funny and smart, calm, playful and loving. We appreciate that we had her for such a long time, however it is never enough. We loved her to bits and miss her dearly.

Every night we said this to her at bedtime.

It is also important to thank Wendy, Dr. Rachel and Heather from Resting Paws for helping us through this challenging time. We are so grateful for the kindness, empathy, patience and professionalism that was shown to us through her end of life care. Losing Skye has been heartbreaking and we were so grateful to have had the opportunity to be at home, in this intimate and gentle manner. We felt this is what she deserved.

It’s been almost 5 months since we said “see you later, buddy” to our sweet Elliott, after 17 years of voracious snacking, walkies, car rides and in the end- so many “rolly strolly rides” with your sister Charlotte. With the amazing help and ongoing toughly ins from Resting Paws, we have such peace in our hearts knowing that Elliott’s crossing was as kind and compassionate as possible.

In Loving Memory of Leo
2009 – 2025
Leo was a gentle Persian cat whose calm presence brought comfort every day of his life. In his quiet way, he was always close — by my side, watching, resting, loving without condition. His affection was constant and reassuring, often accompanied by the loudest, most comforting purr — a sound that filled the room and my heart.

For sixteen years, Leo filled my life with warmth and companionship, and I am deeply grateful for every moment we were given with him. As time passed and illness began to weigh on him, he faced each day with the same quiet dignity he had always shown. Though his body grew weaker, his love never did. Staying with him through those days was both heartbreaking and a privilege — an act of love for a soul who had given so much.

In the quiet moments now, I miss his cuddles most — the way he always curled up in my arms whenever he could, fitting himself there as if it was where he belonged. Though his absence is deeply felt in the stillness he once occupied and in the routines we shared, his presence remains — in memory, in habit, and in the love that does not end with goodbye.

Leo was deeply cherished. He lived a life of devotion and gentleness, and we will always be grateful to have shared our lives with him.
He will never be forgotten.

Sasa blessed my life with his majestic presence for 14 wonderful years. While his independent spirit  made him a unique companion, he was spoiled by the love and affection he received. A true sun worshipper, he could often be found basking in his basket or sprawled out on his own patch of grass.  He was the master our hide-and-seek games.

Our adventures (and sometimes misadventures), only strengthened our bond. Sasa was much more than a pet; he was a dear friend and a source of endless joy.  I take comfort in knowing he’s basking in the sun’s rays somewhere beyond the rainbow.

Orange was our big, gentle boy who loved nothing better than backyard sunspots, a hit of driveway catnip, and chin rubs. You are so missed, my well-loved friend. Thanks so much to everyone at Resting Paws for seeing him so gently on his way.

Bella Rose was a beautiful girl who brought immense joy to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her loving family.

We came into each other’s life when we needed each other most. He was vulnerable and needed a home and I was recovering from a brain injury. I lost so much of my life and he brought companionship. He was a senior cat when he came to me so we didn’t have many years together, but we spent every moment together. Our routine was cemented and comfortable. I like to think he lived his best senior life.

“Our sweet girl Sadie brought us more than 12 years of absolute joy and love. The sweetest of girls you could ever want to meet, however, she definitely wanted to be queen of the neighborhood. Size didn’t matter, and being a schnauzer, she let the other dogs know.
Sadie loved to travel , and in particular was happiest when stretched out in the sun in Southern California. She loved to romp in the waves and chase her ball at Dog Beach in Del Mar. When at home on the island, Air Force Beach was a favourite spot. She was happy wading up to her belly and then would stand in envy watching the big dogs chase their balls and sticks in the water.
Another important part of her life was licking out my latte mug every morning, prior to having her face washed and her teeth brushed.
She has left a hole in our home that is so much bigger than her 14 pounds. Rest easy, sweet girl. You gave it your all, and we tried our best to give it back.“

🌈 LUCY – August 19, 2011 – November 20, 2024 🌈

Our beloved Lucy crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. It was a very peaceful and gentle time here at home, thanks to the compassionate vet hospice team at Resting Paws. It even had humorous moments, as they brought Lucy a McDonald’s cheeseburger which she devoured with gusto! The ravages of kidney disease meant that she had been slipping away from us. We take comfort in the fact that her life was very full and happy and that for 13 years. She was such a wonderful family member, who loved everyone. Now, all her difficulties are over. She will be missed by Dave and Nan and all the family, and by her feline sister, Maggie. We will be looking for her around every corner, on every trail and beach, in the ocean, on every car ride, on every paddleboard. She surely has earned her angel wings, thanks to her loving nature. 💔😢❤️🐶 Love you forever, Lucy 💗🐶

TiraMISU came to me late in her life, she had a traumatic start and was able to rest and relax while I had her for our short time together.
Misu was a sweet gentle soul that brought me much joy and companionship. Misu you will never be forgotten and sorely missed.❤️

Dexter, our handsome little guy. We were lucky enough to share 12.5 years together. You had such a big personality, full of character though a bit mischievous. You were incredibly friendly, always eager to greet every guest who came into our home. Every box or bag became your new spot to sit, and you loved sneaking bites of food while we cooked. We will forever miss your loud purr, our evening games of fetch with your toy mouse, and our nightly cuddles as we fell asleep. We wish we had more time with you, but we know it would have never been enough. We will love you forever.”

Resting Paws Rightly named and the ladies that came to help my little friend cross over the rainbow bridge were the two most gentle caring people I have ever met in this time of grief.
My little girl passed without a twitch and they stayed till they knew my grief was in control, caring and loving to the end.
I recommend them highly when its time to let your friend go.
