Isabella

My Sweet Isabella, whose soft purrs and quiet grace filled our lives with comfort and joy

Piper

Piper came to us 9 years ago after a neglectful beginning with a previous owner. From many barking complaints to chasing the mailman, (and rumour has it killing a couple flocks of chickens)… Piper’s beginning was not the way a dog should live.

We adopted Piper when she was 3 and gave her the life she never would have had.

Her favourite activities included swimming after her blue ball at Shawnigan lake (she literally almost drowned once because she couldn’t get it), boat rides, playing “hide the foxy” or “Friday night hide the cookie.”

In her early years, Piper loved wrestling with dad, “goodnight kissy-poo,” walks up Mount Tolmie with mom, being the best “cat-cop” in town, Lily’s guardian, and most importantly, mooching from dad because no one else would give in to her.

Piper was incredibly loyal, intelligent, stubborn (if you didn’t take her picture fast enough she’d bark at you), and extremely loving in her own way.

Two years ago we took her into the vet for a dental, and after a palpation of her abdomen, an X-ray and an ultrasound, the vets realized her spleen needed to be removed. She left the vet that day minus one canine and one spleen. She lived an extra two years without her spleen, time we not have had.

Piper spent her last day in the sun, eating ice cream, surrounded by her favourite people. Piper, thank you for all the laughs, smiles, love, moments of annoyance and frustration over these past 9 incredible years. We wouldn’t change anything (except for when you ripped out the cat-door (twice!) in our basement door).

Love you forever and always our girl, Piper.

A huge thank you of course to Vanessa and Kate, who were very respectful, compassionate and caring and made Piper’s goodbye peaceful.

Dora

In loving memory of Dora, a gentle soul with whiskers and warmth who filled our hearts with joy.

Baxter

BAXTER BROWN December 27, 2007 to June 19, 2025
Baxter came into my life when I most needed him and for 17 1/2 years he was constantly by my side. I called him my puppy soulmate. He gave me unquestioning love every day and asked only an hour of ball throwing and a warm lap to curl up in in return. He made me laugh every day. We travelled and had many adventures together and he was adored by everyone who got to know him. When I came home he would run over to stand on the couch where he could greet me and give me sloppy kisses. He was a sweet, wonderful little soul and I will miss him forever.

Jersey

“Saying goodbye to you was the hardest day of my life. I’ve never known the pain of losing a pet before, and I honestly didn’t know it could hurt this much.

With Georgia by my side, we said goodbye to you at home and surrounded by love. It was peaceful, and it was everything you deserved, but my heart shattered as we let you go.

You’ve been with me through nearly all of my adult life. No matter what was going on, you were my constant, my comfort, my shadow. I feel completely lost without you.

At the same time, I’m so incredibly grateful for the 13 and a half amazing years together. I got to grow up with you by my side through all my ups and downs. You were the sweetest, most loyal pup — so loved every single day of your life, and so deeply missed now.

I’ll miss your cuddles, your little quirks, your quiet presence in the room. I’ll miss you, every day.

Rest easy, my sweet Jersey 💛”

Rocky

Rocky,
My little angel without wings but with a happy tail.

Zoe

Zoe was a one in a million dog who radiated joy and was enthusiastic about life right up until the very end. Anyone who met her couldn’t help but fall in love with her and we were lucky to call her ours. She’ll be in our hearts forever and will be deeply missed.

Patches

A wild girl soon became citified. Always needed her loving, feeding and adventures in the backyard. Missed every day. No one to walk with along the garden with, or sit outside enjoying our own little paradise. Much missed terribly.

Karma

She found us all the way from Puerto Rico and she was with us for over 14 years. She had the cheekiest little personality and kept us laughing. For having such a rough start in life, she was one of the most joyful dogs I have ever met. While she took a while to warm up to strangers, she certainly loved her peeps and showed us with lots of snuggles and antics. I really miss petting her beautiful fur which is one of the softest things I’ve ever felt. She will be forever remembered and missed deeply.

Thank you again for all your care with us and Karma.

Ellie

Kay and I really appreciated the care and gentle touch that you provided to Ellie and to us during yesterday’s difficult session. We are both relieved and thankful that Ellie left us in such a peaceful and painless way. It was a difficult decision but the two of you helped make it bearable for us. Also, thank you for the donation in memory of Ellie.

I attached one of our favorite photos of Ellie. It captures her fun personality and sweet disposition. She was the most lovable and trouble-free pet that we ever had. Everybody loved Ellie.

We will be sure to recommend Resting Paws to our friends! 🙂

Diesel

Diesel was the sweetest boy and a very loyal friend. He provided comfort to our family during very difficult times. He was full of beans and a great source of fun and laughs. He loved going for walks and on adventures and soaking in the sun. His favourite activity involved any kind of treat toy. He loved food most of all. Diesel is deeply loved and greatly missed. ❤️ 🐾

Rosie

She loved sitting between her dad’s legs on the couch, chin rubs, & sharing our food, especially burgers. We’ll miss her every day.

Charlie

“I adopted Charlie from a rescue when I was 18 and he was 3 months old. Over the past 11 years of growing and changing, the one constant was how much we loved each other. We were inseparable. I can’t wait to play fetch with him again someday.”

Brody

Always remembered and loved

Snuffalluffagus

Snuffaluffagus was the bestest, cutest and most nicest cat. No kitten was loved more. I’m so grateful that we found each other, it felt like it was destiny. You are enormously missed. I love you and always will. She is and will always be ‘sooo cute’.

Lua

We will always remember how she was all heart. She took care of all our rescue animals, the loving mama, even when she was still a pup. She was a beautiful soul that will forever be missed.

Remy

Remy loved her sunbeams, almost as much as she loved rotisserie chicken and tuna. All she ever wanted was to be cuddled, and be carried around on your hip. She never stopped talking, and could never resist a good blanket den. She was present for so many of our big moments, it’s hard to imagine life without her. 8 years was far from enough. We’ll miss her forever.

Daisy

With the utmost care and compassion, Dr Vanessa and her assistant attended my home, and helped my beloved Daisy Cat leave this world from a safe and trusted place where she knew she was loved. Daisy was 19 years old, and had adopted me when she was a 3 year old living at the SPCA. I actually had been looking for a black cat & knew nothing about Tortois. Over 3 different visits, Daisy convinced me that she was meant to be mine.
With the help of some kind friends recently, I learned about home hospice pet care. Daisy’s condition had declined rapidly with significant loss of weight. When she then began to regurgitate water I knew the time had come, as difficult as that decision was. Resting Paws was kind enough to respond and attend within 48 hours of my call.
Daisy was a small cat, who when I adopted her appeared to be all head & skinny body. I think she had faced a lot of competition at feeding time, as she initially would “wolf down” all the food she could see for many months, until she began to trust that there would be food. She hated Car rides, and would howl all the way to the Vet’s, thus , it was important to me that she be at home as comfortable as possible before transitioning across the ‘Rainbow Bridge’. I was able to tell her that on the other side she would meet other kitties I had loved in my life : Gee, Ming, Shadow and Sheba, and that she would not be alone.
Diana

Savanna

Savanna crossed over the rainbow bridge on 19 February 2024.🌈 Thank you to Resting Paws for ensuring Savanna’s crossing was a peaceful one. She joins her dad and two best buddies, Dennett and Sabre. I am sure they are all happy to be together again. They are all dearly missed.

Rooney

Remembering and missing my wonderful little dog and family member Rooney…you will never be forgotten.
