Jasmine, I miss her. Memories are so precious. Thankful, I have lots.

Cool breeze, rustling leaves. Elk Lake, her favorite place to be. She loved fishing there. She loved running there. She made my dad chase her with a towel. Her way of saying “I’m not ready to leave!”.

She gave us something to do. Taking us on walks where she wanted to go. Or a game of keep away with a ball or stick.

She was friendly with cats. They did not always think so. She still tried her best.

When I would open the door, sometimes she would greet me, her tail wagging happily. The clicking of her claws on the floor. Other times she was a princess laying on her bed giving me the ‘sup’ gesture to come to her.

Her flopping onto her side awaiting pets.

The smile on my face growing.

Now when I open the door, it’s too quiet. Sounds play tricks on me. Someone’s missing here. A hard reality.

Glad for all the memories, for I can always find her there.
