K.C.

Beautiful K.C. forever in our hearts.

Mika

“ Everyone who knew Mika loved him, or he forced them to love him, a true master of receiving snuggles and getting pets. He always knew when to show up with his irresistible presence. His loud vocal cords will echo in our hearts, from his demanding meows to his cute food begging. Mika brought fun chaos and endless affection into our lives for 19 years, and he will be deeply missed.

RIP sweet Mika”

Salty

Saltarella De Medici (Salty) was humanely set free of her pain by Dr. Vanessa and Heather from Resting Paws Veterinary Hospice, and crossed the Rainbow Bridge at her home on January 4, 2025, surrounded and comforted by her family (Rhonda, Bruce, Lyndsay and Shannon). Salty was born on November 17, 2008 at De Medici Poodles in Chemainus, BC, to parents Ellie May and Leonardo (Lenny). We had the good fortune to visit there just over two weeks after Salty and her siblings were born, and we truly believe that on that day she chose us as her forever family just as much as we chose her. We brought Salty home on January 10, 2009, and had 16 wonderful years with her, as a loved and cherished family member.

Among other things, Salty loved RV trips and car rides, swimming, walks where she could sniff every tree along the way, chasing sticks and balls, playing in the snow, looking out the window, and especially treats! Unfortunately, in her last few months she lost a lot of strength in her back legs/hips, as well as much of her eyesight and hearing, and was unable to enjoy many of those activities anymore (except the last one!). She remained a trouper to the end, and although she was on arthritis and joint pain medication, it became obvious that her quality of life was deteriorating, and we had to make the agonizing decision to let her go. We are so thankful that she was a part of our lives and she will never be forgotten. Now transitioned into spirit, we know that we will still feel her presence.

Vegas

“Thank you Vegas for 16 amazing years, you meant so much to us. We feel so blessed you joined our family and will miss you with all our hearts. Rest easy my friend”

Rufus

My friend Rufus, you were a huge part of my life as you came to me in my 20s when I was single. For almost 19 years, you gave all of the most beautiful love and friendship one can have with a pet. You lived through single life, parties, job , moving, new roommates, new friends, meeting My Husband, tons of other animals, Max, getting married, meeting my step-daughters, Taya and Macyn, moving again, renovations, Kailyn and Lynden, the death of my mom and cherished people around me, the death of your buddy Max. You were such a support to the whole family. When hard things would happen you were the one a huge part of our family would go to for love. We will miss you forever. Give Max a hug when you see him. Love you Goofy

Makita

It is with a heavy heart that I share the loss of our beloved dog, Makita, who was with us for 9 wonderful years. Makita had a slight limit for the past 8 months which turned out to be bone Cancer. We found out before Christmas and gave Makita an extra special Christmas knowing that would be her last. Words can’t capture the depth of love and joy she brought into our lives. From the playful wag of the tail to the quiet moments of companionship, every day was made brighter by her presence. Makita was more than a pet — She was family.
Saying goodbye is never easy, but we will always cherish the memories, the unconditional love, and the paw prints left on our heart. Thank you, Makita, for being the best friend we could ever ask for. You will forever be missed and loved. 💔🐾 #RIP Makita #ForeverInOurHeart

Sophie

My dearest Sophie,

I can’t believe our time together is already over. From the first time I met you, I knew how truly special you were.
From the very beginning and every year after, you were always dignified, classy, highly intelligent and an absolute sweetheart.
It’s not the same here anymore without you.
I can’t thank you enough for all those years you stuck around and were an absolute JOY to be with and come home to.
You will always be in my heart. ps. Logan misses you greatly as well.

Nugget

Nugget came to Dr. Vanessa 17 years ago as an orphaned kitten who required bottle feedings around the clock. She grew into the purrfect companion who filled our lives with so much joy and warmth 😻She was the queen of drooling while purring, a sunbathing beauty with an odd, but adorable, obsession with bananas 🍌 She will be missed dearly 💔

Rest in peace sweet Nugget. You have surely left paw prints on the hearts of so many 🐾

Begley

This guy came into our lives on December 29, 2010…we had him for almost exactly 13 years.  We will miss him so much.  He was the best companion and fur brother to our daughter.  He was a great walking partner to his dad.  He was the best coworker for myself…he was by my side all day everyday for 13 years.  He was the best photoshoot dog despite being all black and hard to light..he willingly wore costumes and always knew the exact spot to sit for the ‘dog’ in any family photo.  He was a 70lb lap dog but always asked to get on the couch before jumping up.  He survived cancer twice and gave us 13 amazing years.  We are missing him so much already.  We have so many wonderful memories.  We are so grateful that he was able to be at home with us for his final moments. Thank you Dr. Vanessa.

Mystic

In loving memory of our sweet and special, Mystic, who brought so much joy and love to our lives. She passed peacefully while laying on my lap (her favourite place to be). I’m so grateful that I had 18 years with her sassy little attitude. Rest peacefully my sweet Mystic.
